Which airport does Sauze d’Oulx use?
The closest airport to Sauze d’Oulx is Turin aiport which is about an hour by motorway (autostrada) from the resort.
Oher aiport options are Milan Malpensa and Lyon Saint-Exupéry. From Milan you it takes about 2.5 hours to get to Sauze d’Oulx by train, less by private transfer; from Lyon it is possible to get a Flixbus to Oulx, but these only leave Lyon early in the morning during the winter.

Is Turin Airport the Same as Torino?
Torino is the name for Turin in Italian, so yes it’s the same. The full name of the airport is Torino Sandro Pertini Airport.
How long does it take to get to Sauze d’Oulx from the airport?
By car it’s just over an hour. By public transport it will take about 2.5 hours (including waiting times). From the airport to Porta Nouva Station is 30 to 45 minutes (usually) by bus. The train takes one hour 15 minutes. And the bus to Sauze takes 10 minutes or so.

Yes. When there’s enough snow cover you can use the blue pistes La Ciclabile Alta to La Ciclabile Bassa into Sestriere

How Many KM is the Sauze d’Oulx Ski Area?
Sauze is connected to the Vialattea ski area which has over 400km of pistes in Sauze d’Oulx, Sestriere, Cesana Torinese, Sansicario and Montgenevre (in France)
Is Sauze d’Oulx good for beginner skiers?
Sauze d’Oulx is mainly an intermediate resort with a good selection of red runs.
Beginners usually start at Sportinia where you will find the “Mini Sportinia” carpet lift and beginners’ slopes. After mastering basic technique, beginners move onto the mountain were there’s a fairly easy blue run back down to Sportinia.
Some Italian red pistes are more like French blue ones, so progress onto these should be fairly quick.
Unlike in France, Italy does not have green pistes.
How High are the Mountains in Sauze d’Oulx?
The highest point in the immediate ski area is Monte Fraiteve which reaches 2702 meters.
Does Sauze d’Oulx Have Snow Cannons?
Sauze d’Oulx and the Via Lattea ski area has invested heavily in modern snow cannons to make sure there’s a good skiable area throughout the winter.
Are Sauze’s ski lifts modern?
The lift system is generally good, with chairlifts and gondolas, but some older lifts remain in operation.
Does Sauze d’Oulx have good snow?
Yes, but snow conditions can vary year to year. The resort has snowmaking facilities, and higher-altitude areas usually have great snow.

Is there off-piste skiing in Sauze d’Oulx?
Yes. It’s recommended that you take a guide which you can find in any ski school.
Avalanche safety gear (avalanche beacon, shovel and probe) are mandatory for all winter sports enthusiasts heading out of marked and secured ski runs. The law also applies to off piste skiers. Skiing and snowboarding off-piste is done at your own risk.

Is Sauze d’Oulx Expensive?
Compared to other ski resorts, Sauze is one of the cheapest in Europe. A lot of people comment on how much cheaper it is than French resorts.
Are there any supermarkets in Sauze?
There are three. The main and largest one is beside the petrol station on the road into Sauze. There are two Carrefour minimarkets. The largest one has a better selection and slightly lower prices.
Is there a ski bus in Sauze?
Yes, in winter there are three with different routes. Ask your accommodation owner for stops and more information. Some hotels offer a free shuttle service.
Is Sauze family friendly?
Many Italians love children and the same goes for Sauze d’Oulx. At Sportinia there’s an easy slope for children to learn on and Sauze Project has special children’s learn to ski area (ask Project for more details). In Sauze there’s a children’s play park along with a creche (Baby Parking La Libellula). Many restaurants happily cater for children.
How lively is Sauze d’Oulx?
For those people that want to apres-ski till the early hours, they can. There are also bars that are quieter for those that want a little peace, and family-friendly bars.
Is Sauze good for solo travellers?
Yes. Sauze is very welcoming to everyone whether solo, with partners or in a group. Friends are made easily.
When is a good time to ski in Sauze?
The quick answer would be, when there’s snow! The heaviest snowfall can occur anytime but often February and March seems to have the heaviest snow and the longer daylight hours, combined with slighty warmer temperatures, make it a great time to ski and snowboard.
