PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Turin Aiport to Sauze d’Oulx
AIRPORT to TURIN
At the airport, as you exit Arrivals, you will see a ticket machine (and sometimes someone with a desk) issuing bus tickets.
The bus leaves every 15 minutes during weekdays and Saturday, and every 30 minutes on Sundays and on public holidays.
More information can be found on the airport website here and the timetable can be found on the Arriva website here.
Every half hour (approximately) there’s a fast bus taking half an hour, the other takes 45 minutes.
In 2024 the cost one way €7.50 (+ €1.00 on board) or round-trip €11
DIRECTIONS
As you exit Arivals, turn right and walk to the end where you’ll see a bus stop and probably a bus. You will probably have to load luggage/skis etc into the bus hold yourself.
The bus arrives at its final stop of Piazza Carlo Felice which is opposite the train station of Port Nuova.
The train station is over the road.
Get your luggage, cross the road and enter the train station.

NOTES
The train station has various cafes/bars and a McDonalds so, if you have time before your train, this is a good place to get something to eat.
In addition, the station now has an Esselunga supermarket. Esselunga is, essentially, the Italian equivalent of Waitrose in the UK. Ideal if you need to buy some snacks, bread or anything else.
TRAIN to OULX
You will get a train whose final destination is Bardonecchia.
There’s a new ticket that includes train & bus to Sauze d’Oulx. If taking the bus, select Sauze d’Oulx as your final destination.
If you are getting a taxi from Oulx, select your destination (to Oulx) as Oulx-Cesana-Claviere-Sestriere
You can either buy a single or return from the machine, or from the Trenitalia app. This is a more convenient option.
If you buy from the machine, you MUST validate the ticket before boarding the train. Sometimes the validation machines aren’t well signposted so ask, or watch what other people do. If you don’t, you can be fined – and it’s not cheap.
If you buy from the Trenitalia app, make sure to validate the ticket on the app (it does point out that you need to) before boarding the train.
The journey takes about and hour and 15 minutes. The stop before Oulx is Salbertrand so you can be prepared and gather your luggage.
NOTES
If you have lots of luggage it may well be worth getting a taxi from Oulx to Sauze d’Oulx which can drop you off at the doorstep of your accommodation rather than have to walk through Sauze – especially when there’s snow on the ground.
OULX to SAUZE d’OULX
Exit the train station at Oulx and walk to you left where you’ll see the bus stop (usually with a number of buses parked). Often the drivers will be no-where to be found until a few minutes before departure. Buy the ticket on board – the cost in 2024 is €2.20.
You may well be required to load your own luggage onto the bus.
The bus has various stops. The one for Jouvenceaux is at Bar Jouvenceaux (and the stops are usually listed on the digital bus display).
For Sauze d’Oulx, the last stop is at near roundabout where the bus will come to a complete stop.
NOTES
Get the Arriva app even if you don’t wish to buy tickets on the app. They have all the timetables for weekdays and Sundays/ holidays.
Setting up the app can take a while so it is suggested to do this well before you arrive.
The app page seems only to be in Italian. Download it and you can select English as the language.
